He explains what they need to do to catch her ghost on camera but gets cut off by the camera switching over to Jess. They ask him if he can help them with their camcorder. Sarah and the twins enter the Dunn Cafe, where Topher is sitting there, eating what appears to be a salad. "The past stays in the past best to leave it there." When Griffin asks what type of disappointing memories, he quickly ceased the question. He asks why his Grandpa is so mad at his father for coming back to the Tremont, and he says that he thinks the place is old and filled with disappointing memories. "It ended the way all crushes do, with someone getting crushed." Griffin comes outside the Tremont to find his Grandpa standing outside. She asks Jess if her first crush made her crazy, which she concurred. Her mom walks in, recognizing that Harper didn't say much at dinner.
Then the scene cuts to Harper's room, where she is painting. Everyone at the table looks over at Ben, who uneasily tells the kids to stop talking about ghosts. "Savannah's ghost," they joyfully declared. Grandpa asks what they're planning to film with the old recorder. Then, Sarah notices the twins hiding something under the table. Grandpa praises him for that but belittles Ben for not doing the same. His mom asks him where he's been, and he says he's been doing homework. The scene cuts to Griffin walking to the dinner table. They get into an argument about Griffin not taking the questioning seriously. Griffin and Harper walk back to the portal. Harper asks her if she is jealous of Savannah and Ben, which she quickly declines. Harper goes to Jess's cabin, where she's painting her nails a bright purple. Then, he offers to help him write a song, to which he happily agrees. He asks if Ben is going to the dance with Savannah, which he puts down. First, Griffin goes to see his dad, who's playing his guitar in his cabin. Once stop arguing and storm off, they decide to go meet up with their parents. Dressed in retro clothes, Griffin and Harper sneak behind a tree to find Savannah and Jess arguing. The friends agree that they must be more careful. They wait until they leave and hear the door close. The twins make a deal with him that they won't tell their mom if he doesn't. While they are exiting, Griffin comes in. Harper offers her brother's help and gestures them to leave. They say that they will use the camcorder to catch Savannah's ghost on camera, but they're unable to figure out of it works. They see a shadow gaining upon and scream, only to see that it is Harper, looking for Griffin. Wyatt comes out of the box and exclaims that he's found it, which is an old camcorder. Wyatt is digging head-first into a cardboard box. The scene cuts to the twins in the basement. Griffin runs towards him, revealing that he is his Grandpa ( Bennett Sr.) Grandpa doesn't want Ben at the Tremont, thinking that he is too stuck in the past. Suddenly, a black car drives up in front of the property, and an older man steps out.
He calls out Griffin to help him, but Griffin is in a hurry because he agreed to meet Harper at the portal.
The episode starts with Ben trying to fix an old lamp post in front of the Tremont Hotel. After learning the evil presence will ruin their lives by 2024, the kids race to solve a tangled mystery in the past that may hold the key to defeating the ghost in the present and saving the Dunns and the Campbells from a very bleak future.Harper and Griffin learn that Young Jess rigged the talent show out of her hatred for Savannah, and they vow to go back and stop Jess from causing Savannah's disappearance. In season three of “Secrets of Sulphur Springs,” a new ghost checks into room 205 and starts wreaking havoc around The Tremont.
